European manufacturer of plastic packaging solutions Plasticum has developed a new lightweight 65mm over cap, Sunshine, for customers in the technical aerosol market. The new cap is layer-packed automatically by a robot, which leads to a better packaging density.
According to Plasticum, layer-packing provides all kinds of logistical enhancements and significant savings in operational handling to customers.
Sunshine also offers quality benefits, besides logistic advantages and due to solid layers and firm stacking, the caps remain round shaped, resulting in considerable efficiency improvements on the customer's high-speed filling lines.
Produced at the plant in Tilburg, the standard 65mm over cap, which targets the technical aerosol market such as paints, oils and glues, has a height of 50mm and will be available by the end of September 2012.
The mechanical properties of the less weight cap are retained by selecting a special raw material, while the material saving as well as the efficiency improvement gives a substantial reduction of the carbon footprint.
